Role of the Performer 


Pentatonix 


Pentatonix is a Grammy award winning group that started in 2011. This group is still actively performing, though sometimes solo and sometimes together. 

While Pentatonix does have very few of their own songs, majority of the songs this group performs are all covers for other people's songs. 

This provides a new voice as well as a new way of singing these songs. This group is completely acapella so they have no instruments playing for their music. It is extremely cool to hear a song that usually has instruments and then see these performers using just their voices to make these sounds. 


I absolutely love Pentatonix, it is extremely creative. Seeing the amazing harmonies these individuals can make not only with each other's voices while singing but as well as using an instrument is phenomenal. I personally love this musical group and prefer them to any other groups when it comes to Christmas music. They are very talented individuals. 


They show a very creative type of music and style when they perform without any instruments, many people have never heard acapella and if so I highly recommend. 


I personally also think that this would give the original artist a lot of extra attention on their music, someone may not like the way the original person sounds or the way they perform this but then could hear Pentatonix and in turn end up enjoying this music much more.

    Hey Zoe, I have never heard of this group before, but I think what they do is very impressive! The music they produce sounds very well done with lots going on, to where I would have never guessed it was all acapella! The amount of time and effort needed to recreate these songs with just vocals must be insane. All of the member's vocal range is astounding.

    I have heard of this group before, but never really looked into their music. However, I think it is amazing that they do these covers with no instruments, just vocals! It's quite uncommon for music to be made with no backing instruments, so hearing their covers be completely acapella is really cool.

    Hi Zoe! Its so fun that we wrote about the same artist! I love how the effortless all blend together to make such an amazing sound. The human voice is truly amazing. Have you listened to any of groups that are acapella? Brigham Young University has a really cool group call vocal point!   Introduction Blog!!          Hi! My name is Zoe Payne. I am from Eagle River, Alaska. I love the outdoors as well as hunting and fishing. I work as a barista which is super fun to me! I also am in school right now to be an Elementary school teacher. I have two younger siblings who I am very close with! This is me fishing the Kenai River with my boyfriend as well as my two cousins and my cousins girlfriend when they came to visit us this summer!! My relationship to music is pretty strong, I played cello for 8 years which I loved. I do not play anymore but I have a lot of very nice memories. I also love listening to any kind of music.   Take a Musical Trip Mariachi Music!! A mariachi is defined as a small Mexican musical ensemble composed of a variety of mostly stringed instruments.  Mariachi is considered a uniquely Mexican sound, representing a homegrown tradition that embraces both indigenous and foreign elements.  The mariachi orchestra emerged in the late 1700s or early 1800s in West-central Mexico. The word mariachi may have came from the Coca Indians.  The instruments used in a mariachi include a vihuela (five stringed guitar), the  guitarrón a fretless six string base guitar, a standard six string acoustic guitar, as well as violins and trumpets which usually play the melody.  Mariachi music is pretty unique with its vibrant melodies and lively rhythms.
